This page is a gallery of some of my flower photos. Clicking any one of the thumbnails should open a photo viewer that shows captions and navigation arrows on either side of the page in order to move forward or back through the photos in the gallery.
It may have taken many hours, or even days, to create any single image in this gallery. The effort, skill and craft that has gone into what you are about to see is nothing short of monumental.

I resisted photographing peonies for a long time because they struck me as disorganized and chaotic. Eventually I succumbed to their beauty. Whenever I see this shot I think of martinis because it looks like there are olives in the middle 🙂 This image is copyrighted property and may be used only as specified: Feel free to use this photo on your personal devices for personal, private, non business uses. Getting up close to flowers often reveals alien landscapes such as the writhing, twisted “tentacles” and other bits of this passion flower. With its writhing “tentacles” and bold, colorful stripes this is perhaps the most bizarre of the passion flowers I have photographed. This image was created from seven photos using the focus-stacking technique. No special techniques were employed in the making of this photo of a pincushion protea. I was out walking around one day and spied this flower in somebody’s garden. I happened to have my camera with me and grabbed this shot. I think this flower is rather eye-catching. Don’t you? At times I have enjoyed using flowers as the basis for an image that is something of an abstract such as I did here with the peach colored rose. I applied a canvas like texture and some other effects in PhotoShop. I like this photo of a couple gerbera daisies. I like the light. I like the composition. I was struck by the flowers as I walked by a sidewalk flower stand one day. I didn’t have my Nikon with me so I used my iPhone, an older model back in 2010. This creation began as a photograph of a rhododendron. While it is clearly still recognizable as a flower, here I have used PhotoShop effects to make it appear more like a watercolor painting. Finding, or making something of visual interest is a primary goal of my visual artwork. Here I have cropped and altered a photograph of a rhododendron blossom in an attempt to achieve such interest. Whether or not I have is entirely up to the viewer. Photographed outdoors at Mount Diablo in California, these flowers are known as Globe Tulips or Fairy Lanterns. This variety is said to grow only at Mount Diablo. I’ve seen columbines in white, blue, and pink. Sometimes a flower is interesting from the side, or in this case the back, so that’s one of the ways I shot it. This image of a lily was made from 27 individual photographs using the focus-stacking technique. Meticulous attention to lighting creates delicately nuanced shading on the petals. Careful post processing in PhotoShop corrects for artifacts inherent in the focus-stacking process. I originally created this image to print at 24″ x 78″ and later resized it for online presentation here. I’m not really sure…this could be an Iceland poppy, which oddly isn’t native to Iceland, or it could be a very similar flower. 24 images were combined with focus stacking to make this image. It’s called many things: Romanesco broccoli, Roman cauliflower, Broccolo Romanesco, Romanesque cauliflower, Romanesco, but whatever it’s called what makes it very interesting is that it’s a great example of fractals in nature–and it’s delicious! I always feel like this flower is looking back at me! Haha. Man, that’s one hairy eyeball… ewww. Actually I really like anemones. I’ve shot them in a number of colors and varieties. In this shot you can see the anthers nearest the center have not yet pollenated. Soon they will be covered in blue pollen like the others.
At first I thought the leucadendron might be related to the rhododendron, but it turns out that dendron means large shrub or tree and the two are not related. The little black squiggles arranged in spirals at the center are the flowers. Leucadendrons are native to South Africa. Brocolli Romanesco. Yep, this is an edible kind of brocolli and I found it at the supermarket! Fractals anyone?
